Our Core Values
These four things are most important to us:
We want to seek God-centered Joy in all of life because of who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
We are all called to be disciples of Jesus. As we grow in our understanding of God’s Word, the Bible, and then put it into practice, we become more and more like Jesus.
It’s not about “just me and Jesus” at One City Church. God has brought us together, and we are to help one another as part of a family.
We want everyone to know our God and Savior! God has invited us to join Him in reaching our city and the nations.
What We Believe
“The gospel is of first importance.”
The center of everything we believe is the gospel of Jesus Christ.
According to the Bible, the gospel can be summarized by these four realities:
GOD: The Triune God created everything, including mankind. God’s purpose was to bless His creation and receive glory from it in return.
SIN: Mankind has rebelled, exchanging the worship of God for the worship of the things God has made. This exchange is the essence of sin, and it has broken the relationship between God and mankind.
CHRIST: Jesus is God, and He came to restore what sin had broken. He did this through living as a perfect human, dying as the full payment for the sins of others and then defeating death by rising from it on the third day.
RESPONSE: All who turn back to God from their false worship and put their faith in Christ are forgiven of their sins, adopted into God’s family and receive eternal life in His Kingdom.
At One City Church, we hold to the essential orthodox Christian beliefs as expressed in the historic creeds of our faith (The Apostles’ Creed and The Nicene Creed), as well as contemporary confessions of faith such as the Confessional Statement of The Gospel Coalition, as well as Affirmations & Denials of Together for the Gospel.
Our church members all affirm our OCC Membership Affirmation of Faith.
Statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.
The term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other.
Statement on the Sanctity of Human Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect and value all human life.
